LaserTube Sanitary Stainless Tubing (SST) is ideal for the dairy, food and beverage industries where the highest degree of purity and cleanliness is essential. LaserTube SST’s extremely narrow heat affected zone reduces the corrosion potential along the weld far more than conventionally made TIG-welded tubing. LaserTube SST is produced to the requirements of ASTM A1016/A1016M and to 3A finish specifications. A bright-annealed OD surface with the ID polished to 20Ra surface finish is available upon request.

The narrow width of LaserTube SST’s weld makes it more ductile, which means it is ideal for fitting manufacture and special bending. In independent tests, 100% of the LaserTube welds passed ASTM A249-S7 without secondary annealing.

LaserTube Ultra High Purity (UHP) stainless steel tubing is ideal for the pharmaceutical, semiconductor and other industries where ultra-cleanliness and extraordinary smooth surfaces are required for product purity and flow characteristics. LaserTube UHP has an extremely narrow heat-affected zone that makes it’s weld more corrosion resistant than conventionally made TIG welded tubing. LaserTube UHP is produced in accordance with ASTM and ASME applicable standards. All surface finishes are measured to ANSI B46.1 standards and meet or exceed the requirements of ASME-BPE SFT-1 through SFT-6.

The LaserTube UHP Advantage

The high heat concentration produced by the laser welding process generates a deep, narrow weld and a significantly smaller heat-affected zone than the traditional TIG welded product. This uniformity means less delta ferrite in the weld, minimal grain growth and fewer precipitates in the heat-affected zone. The advantages of LaserTube UHP’s weld quality makes it more uniformily ductile, which means it is ideal for fitting manufacture and special bending.

LaserTube UHP meets or exceeds ASME BPE Part DT; as well as the acceptance criteria for interior surface finishes of tubing requirements outlined in Table SF-1 of the ASME BPE standards.
Because of laser welding, LaserTube UHP can use raw materials with the lowest possible levels of sulfur and manganese and the cleanest metallurgy available; thus making it ideal for the semiconductor industry.

GENERAL PURPOSE

LaserTube General Purpose (GP) is intended for general-purpose applications of ASTM A249/A269 stainless steel tubing.

The LaserTube Advantage

In the ASTM A249-S7 weld decay tests, laser-welded tubes do not corrode to the extent of TIG-welded tubes. This means LaserTube GP holds up better than TIG-welded tubes in more corrosive atmospheres. LaserTube GP is readily available in standard lengths for quick delivery.
